We stand in solidarity with those who are oppressed, foster justice for earth, and reverence the diversity of world cultures. Therefore we commit to develop a global consciousness through educational programs, advocacy and participation with the United Nations.

Partnership for Global Justice:Action Alert, May 2009

Dear Friends,

At our Annual Meeting in Cleveland, we explored ways to advance economic systems that support Gospel values. David Korten encouraged us to work at three levels:

1. Changing the stories that underlie our social and economic structures,
2. Engaging and supporting local living economies,
3. Acting on the national political level.

This month we have an opportunity to act on the national level to promote economic justice for all.

From June 1-3, 2009, the United Nations will be holding a High Level Conference on the Global Financial and Economic Crisis. In order for this conference to be effective in making our economic and financial systems more equitable, heads of state must be present. By choosing to attend this conference they can demonstrate their appreciation of the gravity of this economic crisis and their willingness to seek a just global solution – one that serves the needs of all of the world, not just those of the powerful economic interests who will be lobbying for a return to business as usual.

Please email or fax your head of state NOW to urge his/her attendance at this important meeting.
