Education Programs:
September, 2010-August, 2011
Year of the Youth

Program for 5/6 Grade Students
Half day (3 hour) program focusing on:

  1. An overview of the United Nations and the three major groups as their roles at the UN and introduce diplomatic vocabulary,
  2. Presentation of Millennium Development Goals with particular development on the issue of WATER ,
  3. UN tour. Cost: $30 per student , one adult free for every 15 students. Preparation and follow up materials will be available for teachers.

Program for 7/8 Grade Students
Half day (3 hour) program focusing on:

  1. An overview of the United Nations and the three major groups as their roles at the UN and introduce diplomatic vocabulary,
  2. Presentation of Millennium Development Goals with particular development on the issue of Sustainable Development (ecology)
  3. UN tour. Cost: $30 per student , one adult free for every 15 students. Preparation and follow up materials will be available for teachers.

Program for High School 9/10 Grade Students
Full day program for (5.5 hours) focusing on:

  1. An overview of the UN,
  2. Presentation on the Millennium Development Goals with particular focus on Water and Sanitation ,
  3. Panel of NGOs addressing issues of trafficking of women/girls/boys, human rights, indigenous peoples, disarmament, poverty/homelessness;
  4. UN tour. Cost: $60 per student, one adult free for every 15 students. $70 per student if lunch is included.

Program for High School 11/12 Grade Students
Full day program for (5.5 hours) focusing on:

  1. An overview of the UN,
  2. Presentation on the Millennium Development Goals with particular focus on Primary Education and Climate Change ,
  3. Panel of NGOs addressing issues of trafficking of women/girls/boys, human rights, indigenous peoples, disarmament, poverty/homelessness;
  4. UN tour. Cost: $60 per student, one adult free for every 15 students. $70 per student if lunch is included.

Three day program which can be consecutive or three days of three consecutive months, focusing on:

  1. An overview of the UN,
  2. Presentation on the Millennium Development Goals with particular focus on preparation to meet with a representative of a developing country on the themes of the MDGs,
  3. Presentations on the following issues: trafficking, indigenous peoples, human rights, disarmament, migration, sustainable development, social development, and poverty/homelessness.

This program also includes: UN tour, a diplomatic visit/conversation with a representative of a developing country and a diplomatic visit/conversation with a representative of the U.S. Mission. Cost: $180 per person, one adult free for every 15 students. $210 per person if lunch is included. Preparation and follow up materials will be available for teachers.

Program for College Students:
Three day program (7 hours per day) which can be consecutive or three days of three consecutive months, focusing on:

  1. An overview of the UN,
  2. Presentation on the Millennium Development Goals with particular focus on preparation to meet with a representative of a developing country on the themes of the MDGs,
  3. Presentations on the following issues:  trafficking, indigenous peoples, human rights, disarmament, migration, financing for development, sustainable development, social development , poverty/homelessness, UN and Global Spirituality.

This program also includes:  UN tour, a diplomatic visit/conversation with a representative of a developing country and a diplomatic visit/conversation with a representative of the U.S. Mission.  For each session there will be materials for teaching each of the topics as well as discussion of hour the issues could be presented.  $180 per person, one adult free for every 15 students. $210 per person if lunch is included. Preparation and follow up materials will be available for teachers.

Program for Teachers and Administrators of Grade and High Schools
Three day program (7 hours per day) which can be consecutive or three days of three consecutive months, focusing on:

  1. 1) An overview of the UN,
  2. Presentation on the Millennium Development Goals with particular focus on preparation to meet with a representative of a developing country on the themes of the MDGs,
  3. Presentations on the following issues: trafficking, indigenous peoples, human rights, disarmament, migration, sustainable development, social development, poverty/homelessness, UN and Global Spirituality.

This program also includes: UN tour, a diplomatic visit/conversation with a representative of a developing country and a diplomatic visit/conversation with a representative of the U.S. Mission. For each session there will be materials for teaching each of the topics as well as discussion of hour the issues could be presented. Cost: $200 per person, $185 per person from the same school. If lunch is included, add $10 per person per day.

Costs per students/teachers covers UN tour, insurance, room rental, stipend for speakers, materials and administrative costs. Programs will take place near the United Nations, depending on the size and room availability. Reservations must be made as soon as possible, at least two months in advance, in order for the Partnership to attain appointments for the UN tour as well as meetings with the diplomats.
